Digunakan ketika subjek dan objek adalah orang/hal yang sama.

2. Untuk penekanan (emphatic)
Dipakai untuk menekankan bahwa merekalah yang melakukan sesuatu, bukan orang lain.

= Mereka membangun rumah itu sendiri (= bukan orang lain).
The students themselves requested the project.
= Para siswa sendirilah yang meminta proyek itu. (= bukan orang lain)
3. Dengan by + themselves → bermakna ‘sendiri’
Menunjukkan bahwa mereka berada sendirian, tanpa orang lain.
They were sitting by themselves.
= Mereka duduk sendirian. (= tidak bersama orang lain).
The kids went to the park by themselves.
= Anak-anak pergi ke taman sendirian. (= tidak bersama orang lain)
